GENERAL NEWS:

Senior Parent Info Night is this Thursday, August 24th from 6:30-7:30 in the cafeteria.

COMMUNITY SERVICE:

Elk Grove Youth Baseball needs responsible volunteers for this Saturday, August 26th from 11 to 1 at the snack bar located at Rau Park.  They will be responsible for manning the snack bar, there will be other volunteers there who will be training the volunteers.  Contact Julie Liebel at

The City of Elk Grove is looking for volunteers for the Elk Grove Multicultural Festival this Saturday, August 26th @ Elk Grove Regional Park.  Go to:

LIBRARY NEWS:
Today all Math 1 & Honors Math 2 classes are scheduled to get their Science textbooks.  Students, remember in the PGHS Student Handbook you’re required to carry your 2017-18 ID card on you every day.  If you missed getting an ID card, Make-up Picture Day is Friday Sept. 8.

Freshmen not enrolled in Health or World Geo. class, stop by the textbook window before, after school or at lunch to get your English consumable textbook.

Textbook Windows are open 7:30—3:20, Late Start Thursday 8:15 to 3:20.  Main library is closed for textbook checkouts--Reopen Monday Aug. 28. (D. VanSomeren, 8/23)

COLLEGE/CAREER CENTER/SCHOLARSHIP NEWS:

EGUSD College and Career Fair
The Elk Grove Unified School District will be hosting our 24
th annual College and Career Fair on Wednesday, October 4, 2017, at Valley High School.  The event will begin run from 6:30 to 8:00pm with over a hundred representatives from colleges, business and all military branches in attendance.  This annual event provides an opportunity for all students and parents from throughout Elk Grove Unified School District an opportunity to increase their breadth of knowledge in exploring the college enrollment process.  Families can visit with college admission representatives, various branches of the military, and meet with business and community organizations to explore many other career possibilities.

 PGHS Career Center Hours: Open before school @ 7:30, during both lunches and after school until 3:30.

Military in the Quad: Navy (TBA); Marines (Thursdays); Army (TBA)

 

CLUB/ACADEMY/ACADEMIC NEWS:

Interested in Academic Decathalon?  There will be an informational meeting in HK-4 TODAY at 3:30.  Come check it out!! (J. Platt, 8/23)

BSU will have its first meeting tomorrow morning, Thursday, August 24, 2017 at 8:00am in room HE18. Is it possible to put this in the bulletin? (D. Doyle, 8/23)

 Want to be club this year? Come to the ASB room and pick up your paperwork in order to become a part of club rush! Club rush is scheduled on September 6th during both lunches. Turn your paperwork back to the ASB room by next Friday, September 1 or we won’t be able to include you in club rush. (J. Platt, 9/1)

ATHLETIC ANNOUNCEMENTS:

If interested in wrestling at PG in the winter plan to attend an informational meeting on Tuesday, August 29th beginning at 3:45 in the wrestling room. (B. Belden, 8/29)

COMMUNITY SERVICE:
Looking for community service hours?  Pleasant Grove Elementary is in need of about 6 or 7 volunteers to work their annual Sock Hop in September.  The event is on September 22nd from 4pm to 7pm.  They need students to show up at 3:30 and stay until 7:30 pm.  Volunteers will help with making and serving popcorn, cotton candy, and snow cones.  Then a little help with cleanup at the end.   If you are interested, please see Ms. Mullins in HK9 to sign up. (J. Annual Arnold Adreani Elementary Spaghetti Feed is looking for volunteers for their Friday, September 29th event.  They are looking for students to work from 4:45 - 8:45 p.m.  Duties to include setup, dessert auction, serving and cleaning up.  Contact Marilyn Dillard at MarilynADillard@gmail.com to sign up.
